April 13, 2010: Fastlane in the Community

Titled “FastLane in the Community”, April’s FastLane centres on what you as a Torontonian can do to give back to the community. The April FastLane networking event maintains its format (complete with the famous Speed Networking) with the option to learn from local organizations. This is your chance to meet young professionals, build relationships and to strive to fulfill your career, community, lifestyle and social goals.

Last years “FastLane in the Community” was such a success that we were inspired to approach Kultura and United Way’s GenNext and they have partnered with us again for 2010. Kultura will once again host FastLane in the Community; you can absorb the rustic appeal of Kultura throughout this unique networking experience. Other community partners new this year include the Volunteer Toronto, Toronto Twilight Rotary Club, Junior League of Toronto & Rotaract Club of Toronto & TD.

Come check out the opportunities these organizations have available to you, after all experience is everything; you can take all of the skills you learn throughout your time volunteering and apply them to achieving your career goals.

GenNext’s mandate is to encourage Torontonians in their 20s and 30s to become involved with United Way Toronto through giving and volunteering. The group is committed to raising awareness and supporting the work of United Way and its partners by developing and participating in volunteer and fundraising events.

One way to become involved is through the Junior League of Toronto-an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Rotary International is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million professionals. Sponsored by the Toronto East Rotary Club, the Toronto Twilight Rotary Club is one of the newest clubs in Toronto and caters to young professionals under 40. Toronto Twilight Rotary Club has been incredibly active in the City of Toronto since it’s inception in spring of 2009.

Volunteer Toronto has been promoting volunteerism and connecting Torontonians to volunteer opportunities for the past 37 years. All opportunities are from non-profit registered charities and organizations providing services in the arts, health, education, social services, sports and more.

Rotaract is an international organization of young people between the ages of 18 to 35, sponsored by Rotary International. Members of Rotaract are people who want to develop their leadership skills, become active members in the community, and work together to make the community and world a better place.

After hearing such rave reviews at February’s FastLane we are bringing back the ever so popular Speed Networking sessions- a service that was introduced to Toronto by FastLane. Participants will have seven minutes to begin a business relationship creating an opportunity to leverage each others’ success. Remember to bring your business cards!
